Description | Basic Fire Academy (Blended) is designed and developed for the entry level firefighter utilizing a blended format that combines online, virtual learning with in-person hands on skills development to prepare the student to function as a member of a local fire suppression team. Students that successfully complete all aspects of the program will meet all pre-requisites to test for Firefighter 1 certification. Dates listed are the in-person sessions, students are expected to complete the online portion on their own, within the timeframe of the syllabus, which will be provided to students the first date of class. The first date of class will be the introduction to the program and full explination of how it will work. Successful completion includes:
Pre-requisites: 17 y/o+ on first day of class, member of emergency services organization Requirements: Computer w/ internet access, structural firefighting PPE, SCBA w/ spare cylinder *Note this program will require students to be self-motivated to complete the online learning objectives. Completion dates for the online curriculum will be provided to the students. Failure to complete online content by the due dates established (without approval from the program manager) will make student ineligible to complete skills and non-success with the program. Academic and physical skills requirements will be explained to the students on the first day of class. No refund will be granted for academic, or other removal from class. Partial credit is not obtainable for this program. |
