Health & Safety Officer is a 24 hour National Fire Academy course with National Certificaiton offered to successful candidates. The target audience of this course is any individual who has an active involvement in planning, organizing, implementing, or monitoring a department-level occupational health and safety program within thier fire service organization. Such topics as risk analysis, wellness, program management, and other occupational safety issues are covered in depth.
Pre-requisites: 18+, Intro to Fire Officership, or 5 years experience as line officer.
Required gear: Pen/pencil, notebook, IFSTA Fire & Emergency Safety Officer 2nd Edition (included in tuition and will be distributed first day of class), thumb drive or other means of digital data storage, laptop (recommended).
A laptop/printer will be available in the classroom to work on skill sheets, but is a shared computer used only for printing. Students are expected to bring their own laptops to complete the skills.
**Credit ($66.00) for course book cost will be offered for any student that can provide their own course book, or who has registered for the Incident Safety Officer course at LCPSTC
